Cooky Cookie Comparisons

For this blog post, I have quite a fun bunch of information to share!

My task was to compare two things that are related to my topic of cookies. Thus, I figured with Thanksgiving at the end of this week, what better thing to compare than baking the cookies themselves!

My mother and I went head to head in a BAKE OFF. We each scoured the internet for the most interesting cookie recipes the world had to offer and we picked Crinkle Cookies!  These decadent cookies are double chocolate cookies rolled in powdered sugar. What’s not to love?! Easy. Fudge-y. Delicious!

Something that most people don't know about me is that I can't cook at at all. I have the black thumb of baking. So when comparing my mothers cookies to my own we made many observations about our differences.

First in foremost, one big difference between my mothers cooking and my own was how we made the dough. I've always stirred most things with just my muscle and a spoon. However, it would seem that my mothers idea of using a mixer was more efficient. Which it was, the mixed blended where as I kind of mashed my ingredients.

Second difference was preheating the oven, often times I never really follow the direction exactly to the letter, and in this case my degree on the oven was off by at least 15 degrees! This caused my cookies to not only take longer to back, but not crisp as well.

Lastly, another tip that could make the baking process go smoother would be to always check for egg shells ;) 🥚 Of course, that is one of many rookie mistakes new bakers can make so I will be linking to some tips new bakers can use when starting out in the kitchen.

Needless to day, after it was all said and done, my mother had the best cookie turn out and I, honestly I couldn't agree more!

These cookies are beautiful and, frankly, super tasty. I wish you could try one! Anyway! That's all I have for this post! Take care and happy holidays! 🦃🦃
